What Information We Collect

When you create an account, we collect the information you provide directly: your name, email address, and profile details such as your profession, company, bio, and areas of expertise or interest. Mentors additionally submit information during the application process, including their professional background.

We also collect basic usage data automatically — for example, which pages you visit and how you interact with the platform. This helps us understand what is working well and where we can improve.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Run the platform — creating and managing your account, facilitating session bookings, and sending you session confirmations and reminders.
  • Match mentors and mentees — your profile information helps us surface the right mentors for you and helps mentees find mentors relevant to their goals.
  • Communicate with you — we may send you product updates, platform announcements, or support responses. You can opt out of non-essential emails at any time.
  • Improve the product — aggregated, anonymised usage data helps us understand how people use Mentorship Desk and guides future development decisions.

What We Don't Do

We will never sell your personal data to any third party. We do not share your information with advertisers. We do not use your data to build advertising profiles or target you with ads, on our platform or anywhere else.

Your information is used solely to provide and improve the Mentorship Desk experience. Full stop.

Third-Party Services We Use

To operate Mentorship Desk, we rely on a small number of trusted third-party services. Each handles your data only as necessary to perform its function:

  • Firebase (Google) — we use Firebase for user authentication and our database. Your account credentials and profile data are stored here.
  • Resend — we use Resend to deliver transactional emails such as session confirmations, booking requests, and account notifications.
  • Google Meet — mentorship sessions take place via Google Meet. When a session is scheduled, a Meet link is generated and shared with both participants.

Each of these providers has their own privacy policy that governs how they handle data on their infrastructure.

Data Retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data from our systems within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or compliance reasons.

To request deletion of your account and data, email us at hello@mentorshipdesk.com.

Your Rights

You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct any inaccuracies, or request that we delete it. You can also ask us to provide a copy of your data in a portable format.

To exercise any of these rights, simply email hello@mentorshipdesk.com with your request. We will respond within 14 days.

Cookies

Mentorship Desk uses a minimal set of cookies. We use session cookies to keep you logged in during your visit — these expire when you close your browser. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.
